After many years in the textile industry, Marshall decided to start a business of his own. Being both a people person and a self-starter, he chose real estate. He founded Carithers Real Estate, Inc. in 1971.
Carithers Real Estate started primarily as a residential sales firm and has grown to become a leading commercial sales and development company. Carithers Real Estate has been instrumental in fostering economic growth throughout Anderson County and the surrounding areas. Furthermore, Carithers Real Estate has been a corporate sponsor for Meals on Wheels, the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club, the Anderson Recreation Center’s Youth Baseball Team, and the Shalom House for battered women and substance abusers. Marshall has also been very active in fundraising for AnMed Pediatric Therapy Works, and the Carithers family funded the start of the Anderson YMCA’s Youth Wellness Program for youngsters ages 8-13.
Michael B. Carithers, Owner
Michael’s motto, “your needs are our goals” has not only helped him focus on his goals and to excel in the real estate industry, but it has also motivated him to become the man he is today. As the proud owner, he’s established Carithers Real Estate as a reliable and trustworthy business, not only because of his strong ideals, but also because of his unwavering dedication to his clients. After spending time in residential sales, he realized that his calling was in the commercial field, so he made the switch and has been working in it ever since. Today, Carithers Real Estate is involved in many aspects of real estate, including site location, build-to-suits, strip malls, residential development and destination retail. All of this is part of Michael’s repertoire, and it’s all fun: “I love what I do, my fee for service is just the bonus,” Michael says. He truly loves putting an opportunity together. He is a people person and wakes up every morning genuinely excited to work.
Over the years, Carithers Real Estate has acquired many national clients, including CVS, Eckerd Drugs, Burger King, Pizza Hut, KFC and McDonalds. One of his most prestigious accomplishments was the National Guard defense base in Anderson, South Carolina. With only two of these bases in the entire United States – the other being in Texas – it’s amazing that he and his father helped convince the Guard to select Anderson from its many locational choices around the country.
Michael’s business has been successful due to the high level of customer satisfaction. Carithers Real Estate treats its clients as if they were family. Michael notes, “I’m not going to sell them something I wouldn’t invest in myself, just for a fee for service. That’s not the aim of my business.”
He has built the company on honesty and integrity. He believes that honesty + integrity = longevity. He strives to keep his clients well-informed and treats all transactions as if he were spending his own money and doing the work for himself. His honesty and integrity have created an outstanding business with a strong reputation, which is expanding his “family” every day.
Elizabeth Myers, Property Manager
Elizabeth was born and raised in Anderson, South Carolina. She is a firm believer in the saying, “Choose a job you love and you will never work a day in your life.” She started her career in the financial and recruiting industries where she developed a strong desire to serve other people. She joined Integrity Property Management as the Residential Division Manager and is also a licensed sales agent with Carithers Real Estate. She looks forward to the new people, new properties and new opportunities and challenges that each day brings. Elizabeth holds a degree in Business Management, which has contributed to her communication, team building, and critical thinking skills. She makes establishing good relationships with property owners and tenants her number one priority.
Outside of the office Elizabeth enjoys weightlifting, yoga, reading an interesting book, drinking a good cup of coffee and hiking with her Australian Shepherd, Rhett.
Michael Hatchett, Broker/Owner
Michael is a Georgia native and resident of Belton, SC. After earning his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a master’s degree in public administration from Georgia Southern University, he pursued a career in public service. His previous work experience includes land-use planning, zoning administration, grant management, and more recently, nearly 15 years as an urban development manager with the City of Tampa, Florida, where he focused on economic and community development in distressed and underserved neighborhoods.
In addition to owning Integrity Property Management, Michael is a licensed broker with Carithers Real Estate. His NAR® certifications include Pricing Strategy Advisor, Resort and Second Home Property Specialist, ePRO, and Short Sales and Foreclosure Resource.
Michael is an outdoor enthusiast and enjoys fishing, backpacking, photography, and target shooting. He attends Capstone Church and volunteers with Habitat for Humanity, Clemson Little Theater and Emmanuel’s Hammer. He and his wife, Caroline, have three daughters.
